Development of mercury trade diagnostics for Sub-Saharan Africa. World Bank funded project to be carried out by Cowi A/S, Denmark and Appelglobal.

The project was financed by World Bank and run by Cowi Denmark.

AppelGlobal carried out a subcomponent of the project comprising field investigations in Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Senegal during a couple of months in 2016.

The job comprised workshops held in Abidjan and field work at small-scale gold mining communities in all three countries, where interviews with the miners were held in order to unravel the trading routes of mercury used for extracting gold.

Reports on the project are stored at Cowi, Denmark.
