In 2019 a fact finding mission was carried out focussing on finding suitable places for introducing mercury-free gold extraction method for small-scale gold miners. The Sorata area was visited and two suitable processing areas were chosen for future introduction of the method. The plan was also to visit Guanay. The road to Guanay went through an area where an epidemic health problem had arisen. It was therefor decided not to go there.
Presently Dialogos and Appelglobal apply for funding from Danish Ministry of Development for a project in the two areas to teach the miners mercury-free gold extraction as well as educating health providers of the toxicity of mercury.
